Six injured in train derailment at Pattabiram in Tamil Nadu

Six passengers suffered minor injuries when the 43121 Chennai-Pattabiram Siding was hit by 12623 Chennai-Trivandrum Mail after passing the signal at danger at Pattabiram East Siding last night.
A press release from Southern Railway said the locomotive and the first two coaches -- the luggage-cum-brake van and a general compartment -- of the Trivandrum Mail were derailed in the mishap, which occurred at around 2015 hours.
Two of the injured were travelling by the Trivandrum Mail and the other four by the EMU train. They were given first aid at the scene of the accident and later taken to the Avadi Government hospital for treatment.
Traffic on all four lines between Chennai Central and Tiruvallur were suspended after the mishap.
Mr. Vashishta Johri, General Manager, Southern Railway, and other senior officers rushed to the spot to oversee relief and rescue operations.
After one line was restored, 12601 Chennai – Mangalore Mail left Chennai Central at 22.25 hrs.
The Southern Railway has set up a helpline number 044 – 25330714 to provide information to passengers and others.
The following trains were rescheduled due to the accident:
·         Train No. 12007 Chennai Central – Mysore Shatabdi Express scheduled to leave Chennai Central at 06.00 hrs today is rescheduled to leave Chennai Central at 8.10 hrs.
·         Train No. 12675 Chennai Central – Coimbatore Kovai Express scheduled to leave Chennai Central at 06.15 hrs today is rescheduled to leave Chennai Central at 8.30 hrs.
·         Train No. 12243 Chennai Central – Coimbatore Shatabdi Express scheduled to leave Chennai Central at 07.15 hrs today is rescheduled to leave Chennai Central at 9.00 hrs.
Following the mishap, all scheduled EMU train services between Moore Market Complex/Chennai Beach and Avadi/Tiruvallur/ Arakkonam/Tiruttani were suspended. 
After the restoration of two lines, EMU train services will be run with skeleton services every one hour between Moore Market Complex/Chennai Beach and Arakkonam till restoration of full train services.
However, train services between Moore Market Complex/Chennai Beach and  Gummidipoondi/Sullurpetta will be normal service, the release added.
