Govt. approves financial assistance for sportspersons

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has approved financial assistance under various heads to Indian tennis player Somdev Devvarman, para athletes Deepa Malik and Amit Kumar Saroha, boxer Pinki Rani Jangra, wrestlers and sparring partners, an official release said today.
Devvarman has been granted ‘in-principle’ approval for financial assistance of Rs. 35,00,000 from National Sports Development Fund ( NSDF) for training, travel and accommodation during the year 2016.
Under Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOP) of National Sports Development Fund (NSDF), Ms Deepa Malik has been sanctioned funds for continuance of her training for the period from November 1, 2015 to February 15, 2016 including coaching fee of Rs 87,500, out of pocket allowance of Rs 1,05,000 and other training allowances working out to a total of Rs 4,82,500.
The Ministry has approved financial assistance to Narsingh Yadav (Wrestling) for availing of the services of physiotherapist  and masseur and for payment towards supplements from January 1 to August 31 this year . While the total amount sanctioned comes to Rs 8,10,800, an advance of Rs 3,64,860.00 has been sanctioned for the period January-April.
Under TOP scheme, eight wrestlers, including three females, along with sparring partners and officials, have been sanctioned $ 8580 plus 1200 Swiss francs, along with expenses for air tickets and visa fees for attending the special training camp in Russia from January 24 to February 26.
Para athlete Amit Kumar Saroha will get Rs 56,700, which works out to be 90% of the total Rs 63,000 sanctioned amount. for availing of the services of physiotherapist, masseur and scort and also for participation in competitions/purchase of training equipment. The financial assistance will come from National Sports Development Fund (NSDF).
The Ministry has approved financial assistance to Ms Pinki Rani Jangra, boxer, for financial assistance from National Sports Development Fund (NSDF) for training and other support as part of preparation for Olympics 2016. The total amount works out to  6172  pounds and 1350 dollars, plus air fare for two persons.
