K L Rahul named vice-captain of Indian Test team for South Africa series

Mumbai, December 18, 2021

K L Rahul was today named as the vice-captain of the Indian team for the three-match Test series against South Africa beginning on December 26.

The decision was taken by the All-India Senior Selection Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), its Secretary Jay Shah said in a press release.

Rahul replaces Rohit Sharma as vice-captain, who was ruled out of the Test series owing to a hamstring injury. Priyank Panchal has taken Sharma's place in the squad.

India’s Test squad: Virat Kohli (Captain), KL Rahul (vice-captain), Mayank Agarwal, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Priyank Panchal, Shreyas Iyer, Hanuma Vihari, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper), Wriddhiman Saha (wicket-keeper), R Ashwin, Jayant Yadav, Ishant Sharma, Mohd. Shami, Umesh Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Siraj.
