India player tests positive at ICC U19 Men's Cricket World Cup

Six players out of the 17-member India U19 squad, currently taking part in the ICC Under-19 Men's Cricket World Cup 2022 in the West Indies, have been ruled out of selection for their second Group B clash against Ireland after at least one of them has tested positive for COVID-19 and five others are in isolation, pending the results of tests.
"The India U19 squad currently taking part in the ICC Under 19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2022 have reported COVID-19 positive cases following RT-PCR and Rapid Antigen Tests. Ahead of their second Group B clash against Ireland U19 on Wednesday morning, six members out of the 17-member squad were ruled out of selection," a press release from the BCCI said.
Of the six, Sidharth Yadav has found to be COVID-positive on the basis of an RT-PCR Test.
In the case of Manav Parakh and Vasu Vats, who have shown symptoms, the RT-PCR test results are awaited. Their Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) results have returned negative.
In the case of skipper Yash Dhull, Aaradhya Yadav and S K Rasheed, the RAT results have returned positive.
"The Board is monitoring the situation closely and is in touch with the management and the coaching group. The players will remain in isolation but will be under the constant supervision of the BCCI Medical Team," the release added.
The International Cricket Council also issued a statement on the development.
"One India player at the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2022 has tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently isolating. Five other India players are also isolating as a precaution pending the results of PCR testing by the official event testing provider," it said.
India opened their campaign in the tournament with a win against South Africa.
