Renowned industrialist Arvind Mafatlal passes away at Chitrakoot

Well-known industrialist Arvind N Mafatlal, who as the chairman of the Arvind Mafatlal Group, passed away at Chitrakoot in Madhya Pradesh today.
He was 88.
Mafatlal was suffering from the effects of paralysis for the past few years and had come to spend some time at the Sadguru Seva Sangh Trust, which also runs a hospital, about a month ago.
Trust spokesman Rajendra Mishra said Mafatlal passed away at around 0715 today. He said the last ries would be performed inside the Sangh's premises, as per the wishes of Mafatlal, who was also the chairman of the Trust.
Born on October 27, 1923, Mafatlal was educated at St. Xavier's High School and Sydenham College, Mumbai.
He joined the family business at the age of 21. After the death of his father in 1955, he took up the mantle of Gagalbhai Mafatlal and Co.
He had also served as a Director of the Reserve Bank of India and the Industrial Development Bank of India, Trustee of the Bombay Port Trust, Chairman of the Executive Council of National Chemical Laboratory, Pune, Member of the Advisory Committee of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay, and member of the Board of Governors, Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad.
