Veerapandi Arumugham arrested in fresh land grab case in TN

Former Tamil Nadu minister and senior Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader Veerapandi Arumugham was arrested in a fresh case of land grabbing filed against him here this morning.

Mr Arumugham, who is on conditional bail in connection with two other land grabbing cases against him, had gone to the Salem Central Crime Branch office to sign before the investigation officer as per the bail condition when he was held in the new case.

The Salem Central Crime Brach police slapped the fresh case against Mr Arumugam, and arrested him on a complaint lodged by one Balamohan Rao of Dasanayakapatti that the former minister had grabbed Rs 4 crore worth of land from him.

Police told UNI that he was being sent judicial remand.

Tension prevailed in Salem following the arrest of Mr Arumugam as a large number of his supporters staged a protest and pelted stones at buses, damaging their wind shields.
