Magnitude 5.2 earthquake shakes Goalpara area of Assam

New Delhi, July 7, 2021

An earthquake of moderate intensity, measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale, shook the Goalpara area of Assam this morning, the National Center of Seismology (NCS) said.

The quake, which had its epicentre at latitude 26.15 N and longitude 90.28 E, 71 km north of Tura in Meghalaya, occurred at 0845 hours at a focal depth of 14 km, a bulletin from NCS said.
