Kerala records 194 COVID-19 deaths, 14,424 new cases of infection

Thiruvananthapuram, June 10, 2021

Kerala today recorded 194 deaths due to COVID-19 and 14,424 new cases of infection in the last 24 hours as the test positivity rate in the state came down to 13.45% even as the high number of fatalities continued to cause concern.

With today's figures, the death toll so far as risen to 10,631 while the total number of positive cases so far has risen to 2,688,590.

As many as 17,994 patients recovered during the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered cases to 2,542,242. A total of 580,417 are currently in quarantine or isolation in their homes or in institutions or in hospitals.

There were a total of 135,298 active cases of the coronavirus disease in the state as of this evening, a bulletin issued by the State Health Department said.

The state is presently under lockdown and while, on Friday there will be some relaxations and more shops will be allowed to open, there will be strict curbs on Saturday and Sunday.

The present lockdown is till Wednesday but it is likely to be extended for a few more days.
