The Supreme Court today refused to entertain a petition seeking to change the polling dates for the Assembly elections to be held in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

The apex court while dismissing the petition noted that the court cannot fix election dates and the petitioner should approach the Election Commission of India for relief.
The petitioner has urged the Supreme Court to change the polling schedule in two states in view of severe cold conditions prevaling in the entire North India.
The three-judge bench comprised Chief Justice S H Kapadia and Justices A K Patnaik and Swatanter Kumar.
