Police open fire in air to conctrol irate mob in Nawada

Police fired in the air to control an irate mob agitating over the death of a youth under mysterious circumstances near Bhagat Singh Chowk here today.
Police said here that the recovery of the body of a youth from Meenapur Badhar under Town police station area triggered unrest among the local people who gathered there in no time and started raising slogans against the district administration.
"When police tried to control the unruly mob, the crowd started pelting stones on policemen who were sent to take the body for post-mortem examination," police said.
They said the police fired in the air to control the violent crowd, which also pelted stones at the residence of the district magistrate.
Two policemen suffered injuries in the clash, police said adding, that they had been admitted to a local hospital.
Meanwhile, local people alleged that Manoj Kumar, a resident of Lakshmipur village was arrested on January 11 in connection with the murder of a businessman Sanjay Agrawal.
They suspected that Manoj died due to third degree treatment meted out to him during the interrogation and his body was dumped near Meenapur Badhar to destroy the evidence of torture by police.
