Nepal President Ram Baran Yadav on six-day visit to India

Nepal President Ram Baran Yadav arrived in Varanasi today at the start of a six-day visit to India in line with the tradition of high level political exchange between the two countries.
During the visit, Dr Yadav will attend the closing function of the 150th anniversary celebration of Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya at the Banaras Hindu University tomorrow and receive an honorary doctorate from the university.
Dr Yadav is scheduled to meet President Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday in Delhi and hold delegation level talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the same day. External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid will also call on him.
"India and Nepal enjoy a special and unique relationship rooted in shared heritage, civilization, culture and extensive people-to-people relations across an open border. It has always been India’s endeavour to support peace, stability and prosperity in Nepal. In this context, India is committed to continue its institutionalised cooperation and development assistance to Nepal," an official press release from the Ministry of External Affairs said.
Dr Yadav had earlier visited India in January/February 2011.
