Morning fog affects more than 40 flights at Delhi

New Delhi, January 24, 2010

Dense fog over Delhi since late last night disrupted the schedules of at least 43 flights at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) today.

Airport officials said authorities implemented low visibility procedures at 0325 hours and terminated them at 0925 hours.

During these six hours, as many as 138 flights were operated under various Instrument Landing Systems (ILS), they said.

As many as 15 flights were cancelled, 22 were rescheduled and six were diverted during this period.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast foggy conditions in the morning for the next two days.
