More than 4.2 lakh candidates appeared for the re-test of the All India Pre-Medical/ Pre-Dental Entrance Test (AIPMT) conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) at centres across the country today.
The re-test was held in compliance of the orders of June 15 and 19 by the Supreme Court after it cancelled the AIPMT held on May 3 in view of the use of unfair means and malpractices by some of the candidates.
The retest was conducted successfuly without any untoward incident, a press release from the CBSE said.
According to it, 6,32,625 candidates were registered for the examination out of which only 4,22,859 candidates downloaded the new admit card.
The examination was conducted at 1065 centres in 50 cities throughout the country and abroad.
"Keeping in view the concern shown by the Hon’ble Supreme Court for the re-conduct of the examination, CBSE has made all possible arrangement to ensure fair conduct of examination. Candidates complied with the directions of the CBSE and reported on time. CBSE has made strict security arrangement to ensure fair conduct of examination. All the candidates were frisked prior to appearing in the examination. More than one lakh officials had ensured the successful and fair conduct of examination," the release added.
