Modi to address nation at 5 pm on Monday

New Delhi, June 7, 2021

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation at 5 pm today, an official announcement said.

"Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi will address the nation at 5 PM today, 7th June," the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said on micro-blogging site Twitter.

While the PMO did not give out any details about the issues that the Prime Minister will talk about in his address, it is likely that he will focus on the COVID-19 situation at a time when many parts of the country are seeing a decline in the number of new cases of infection and are gradually lifting the lockdown restrictions imposed by them to contain the spread of the pandemic.

Modi is expected to stress the need for taking all possible precautions, including the use of face masks adherence to social distancing norms, given the possibility of a third wave of the pandemic.

The Prime Minister is also expected to outline the steps being taken by the Government to cope with the crisis, handle a possible third wave and ensure a gradual return to normalcy as far as economic and other activities are concerned.

He is also likely to speak about the Government's decision to cancel the CBSE Class XII Board examinations and reassure students and their parents about how the students will be assessed.
