Prime Minister Narendra Modi sprang a surprise late this evening when he tweeted that he was thinking of giving up his social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.
"This Sunday, thinking of giving up my social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & YouTube. Will keep you all posted," he said.
Modi, one of the most-followed leaders in the world on social media, did not give any reasons for the move.
The tweet led to a lot of speculation on social media on the possible reasons for the move. There were some who suggested that this could be part of an announcement about a new Indian social media app.
