Elections to Arunachal Pradesh Assembly to be held on April 9

The Election Commission has announced that elections to the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly will be held on April 9 along with the General Elections to the 16th Lok Sabha.
This follows the decision of the Governor, vide his order of March 6, dissolving the 5th Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly with immediate effect.
"Considered all relevant factors, the Commission has decided that simultaneous election to State Legislative Assembly for all 60 Assembly Constituencies of the State would be held along with 16th Lok Sabha Election," an official press release said.
Earlier, the Commission had announced elections to the Legislative Assemblies of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Sikkim would be held with the Lok Sabha elections.
The notification for the elections will be held on March 15 and the last date for making nominations will be March 22.
Counting of votes will be taken up on May 16 along with all the Lok Sabha constituencies and the other states having assembly polls.
