Delhi logs 40 COVID-19 deaths, 27,561 new cases of infection in last 24 hours

National capital Delhi on Wednesday reported 27,561 new cases of COVID-19 infection and 40 deaths in the last 24 hours, a health bulletin put out by the Delhi Government said.
The numbers are significantly higher than the 21,259 cases and 23 deaths reported yesterday.
The number of fresh COVID cases is the second highest single-day tally after 28,395 recorded on April 20, 2021. The number of deaths is the highest since June 10 this year when 44 fatalities were registered.
The positivity rate has also increased to 26.22 per cent, the highest since May 5 last year, when it stood at 26.36 per cent.
The number of active COVID cases in Delhi has climbed to 87,445, the highest since May 8 when it was 87,907.
A total of 56,991 COVID-positive cases are currently in home isolation, the data showed.
