Coach attendant killed, another injured in Himgiri Express

The attendant of an AC 2-tier coach of the 12331 Up Howrah–Jammu Tawi Himgiri Express was found dead and another attendant injured when the train reached Asansol station early today.

An Eastern Railways release issued here said passengers found Sagar, who delivered bed rolls, dead. Another attendant, Ganesh, was found injured.
The incident came to light when the train had reached Asansol station around 0330 hours. It had left Howrah at 2355 hours last night.
Ganesh has been admitted to the Asansol General Hospital. Both Sagar and Ganesh were a contractor’s labourers engaged in supplying bed-rolls to the passengers.
The passengers informed the Government Railway Police (GRP) that they neither heard any sound of gun fire nor saw blood stains on the floor of the coach. The GRP also carried out a search of the coach. A case has been registered.
