CBI arrests Senior Divisional Engineer of South Western Railway in Hubli in bribery case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today said it had arrested a Senior Divisional Engineer of South Western Railway at Hubli in Karnataka for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1.10 lakh from a contactor.

A press release from the agency said that, on the basis of a complaint from the contractor, a case was registered against the engineer for demanding the bribe from him for passing his bill.
The release said the CBI laid a trap and the accused was allegedly caught red-handed while
demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1,10,000 from the contractor in the presence of independent witnesses. Searches were conducted at various places in this regard, it said.
