Biennial election to Karnataka Legislative Council by MLAs on June 11

The Election Commission today said it would hold biennial elections on June 11 to the Karnataka Legislative Council by the members of the legislative assembly (MLAs) to fill up eleven vacancies that will arise due to the retirement of members.

The eleven members whose terms of office will end on June 17 are Abdul Azeem, K.C. Kondaiah, Quazi Arshad Ali, S. Chikkamadu, G. Janardhana Reddy, Thontadarya, H.C. Neeravari, Motamma, Vimala Gowda, D.S. Veeraiah and V.R. Sudarshan.
An official press release said the notification for the elections will be issued on May 25 and the last date for making nominations is June 1. Counting of votes will be taken up on June 11 after polling.
