Army recovers cache of arms from Kandi forest in J&K

A large quantity of arms and ammunition were recovered from the Kandi forest in Kupwara district of Jammu & Kashmir during a joint operation by men of the 47th Battalion of the Rashtriya Rifles (Bihar) and the Special Operations Group (SOG), Kupwara today.

A Srinagar-based Defence spokesperson said the opration was conducted on the basis of specific information from reliable sources and locals of Kandi bowl.
During the search operation in Kandi forest, a large cache of warlike stores was recovered which included an AK 56 rifle, rounds, grenade launchers, detonators, IED circuits and grenades.
The spokesman said the recovery had foiled another attempt by terrorists to use these explosives and weapons to initiate unrest in the region.
