6 killed as buses collide in Gujarat

Six people were killed and five others injured when two luxury buses collided head-on near Borsad on the Borsad-Dharmaj road in Anand district of Gujarat early today.

According to Borsad Rural police, the accident occurred at around 0445 hurs this morning when the buses, going in opposite directions, collided near Borsad, killing five passengers on the spot.

One more passenger died during treatment at S S G Hospital in Vadodara. Five injured passengers were also rushed to the same hospital.

The drivers of both the buses fled the scene soon after the accident. Police said the drivers had lost control of the vehicles due to darkness, leading to the collision.

Most of the deceased hailed from Saurashtra, police added.
