2 policemen, 1 gangster killed in firing by assailants in Bhilwara

Two policemen and a notorious gangster were killed and four police personnel injured when a group of miscreants started firing indiscriminately in Bijolia area of Bhilwara district of Rajasthan around midnight last night, police said.

The police party headed by a sub-inspector was escorting an alleged gangster Bhanupratap from Udaipur jail to Jhalawar in a mini-bus when a group of assailants intercepted the police vehicle in two cars in Bijolia region around 0030 hrs last night, the police said.

Police suspect the miscreants opened fire to kill the gangster.

The miscreants resorted to indiscriminate firing in which sophisticated weapons were also used. The firing left the gangster and two policemen dead and four others injured, police added.

The miscreants later fled towards Chittorgarh.

The injured were admitted to a hospital in Kota where the condition of two was stated to be serious, the police said.
