14 killed in a road mishap near Amravati in Maharashtra

Fourteen people were killed in a collision between a multi-utility vehicle and a truck on national highway No 6 near Gurukunj Mojhari in Amravati district of Maharashtra today.

The vehicle with 16 members of a family was returning to Washim from Nagpur after seeking the blessings of Tajuddin Baba, while the truck was on its way to Nagpur when the mishap occurred this evening, police sources said.

As many as 13 of the victms were killed on teh spot, police said. Three seriously injured perons were shifted to Amravati for treatment, where one woman succumbed to her injuries.

The identities of the deceased were yet to be ascertained, they said.

Two of the injured - Sayed Javed Sayed Salim (25) and Sayed Hasnayan (3) - are in a critical condition, police added.
