GE Capital today announced that Mr Vicky Bindra had been appointed as the President and CEO of its Financial Services Businesses in India. In his new assignment, Mr Bindra would lead all of GE Capital's consumer and commercial businesses in India, including strategic partnerships such as SBI cards. The appointment follows the global reorganisation of GE Capital announced in July, 2008, a company statement said. Mr. Bindra, who has 14 years of global experience in the banking and finance industry, joined GE in 2007 as President and CEO of GE Commercial Finance India. In his new role, he inherits GE's consumer finance business, which offers personal loans, mortgages, and credit cards through its joint venture partner, SBI. "I'm excited about leading GE Capital's businesses in India, this is a country that offers us tremendous opportunities for long-term growth. Though market volatility remains a significant challenge for us in the short term, we remain committed to playing an active role in India's financial services sector in the future," Mr Bindra said.
