Working in Dil Bekaraar was like a walk down memory lane: Padmini Kolhapure

She has been grabbing eyeballs with her performance in the recently released web series Dil Bekaraar, being aired on Disney Hotstar.

Padmini Kolhapure, who entertained cinelovers with her memorable performances in 70s and 80s films like Raj Kapoor's Prem Rog, Ahista Ahista, Zamane Ko Dikhana Hai and Pyaar Jhukta Nahin, returned to the arclights with Dil Bekarar, a story of the Delhi-based Thakur family set in the 1980s.

In Dil Bekaraar, Kolhapure shared screen space with veteran actors Raj Babbar and Poonam Dhillon, with whom she starred in many films in 70s and 80s.

In a chat, Kolhapure said that reuniting with actors like Raj Babbar and Poonam Dhillon in Dil Bekaraar was a nostalgic trip for her.

On working in Dil Bekaraar, based on Anuja Chauhan's best selling novel Those Pricey Thakur Girls, Kolhapure said, '“It felt like home on the sets of Dil Bekaraar. There were many memories coming to my mind while on sets. It was a walk down the memory lane.

"But most importantly, working with Raj Ji and Poonam Ji brought immense comfort for me," she said.

For the actor, working in the series also took her on a nostalgic trip to the 80s.

"Dil Bekaraar is a nostalgic trip for those like us who have lived in the 80s," she said.

Dil Bekaraar transports viewers into the bygone era of the 80s. It follows the love story and the intense ideological clash between Debjani Thakur and Dylan Shekhawat.

The series has been directed by Habib Faisal, who also directed the highly acclaimed Do Dooni Chaar.

Padmini Kolhapure is all praise for director Habib Faisal.

"Habib Faisal has an eye for detail; he leaves no stone unturned. He needed everything to be perfect and he ensured it was. He has done complete justice to recreating the 80s magic; I was absolutely amazed to be on sets," she said.

Produced by Sobo Films Dil Bekaraar gently transports the viewers to the golden times as they experience the simplicity and find relevance in the Thakur Family.

The series also features talented actors like Sahher Bambba, Akshay Oberoi, Medha Shankar and Sukhmani Sadana, among many others.

The characters portray a tale of humorous family drama with a backdrop of liberalisation and journalism.

The series will take viewers through the sweet and sour life of the Thakur family, set in Lutyens Delhi in the 80s, with Justice Laxmi Narayan Thakur and his wife Mamta spending their days watching anxiously over their five beautiful (but troublesome) daughters, each one of them having her own tantrums and her own style.

Dil Bekaraar features Raj Babbar as Justice Laxmi Narayan Thakur and Poonam Dhillon as his wife Mamta. Padmini Kolhapure stars as Mamta’s sister-in-law.
