The rupee recovered by 12 paise today at 47.94 against the US dollar in the opening trade, on selling of dollars by exporters, dealers at the Interbank Foreign Exchange said.
A minor fluctuation was seen in the domestic unit as it registered an intra-day high and low at 47.96 and 47.91 per US dollar, respectively.
The weak dollar against other world currencies and the surging trend in the share market also gave support to the rupee, dealers said.
The rupee had ended yesterday at 48.06 against the American currency, a two-year-low.
