The 50th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), 2019, that will be held in Goa from November 20-28, will showcase more than 200 films from 76 countries as well as 26 feature films and 15 non-feature films in the Indian Panorama section.
About 10,000 film lovers are expected to participate in the golden jubilee edition of the festival, Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar said here today.
He said that 12 prominent films in different languages that have completed 50 years in 2019 will also be screened during the festival.
Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who was recently chosen for the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, will be honoured at the festival for his contribution to cinema through a package of his impactful and entertaining films.
Indian Panorama is a flagship section of IFFI, which showcases the best of contemporary Indian feature and non-feature films of the year. This year, the feature film jury was headed by acclaimed filmmaker and screenwriter Priyadarshan. The jury has chosen Gujarati film Hellaro, directed by Abhishek Shah, as the opening feature film of Indian Panorama 2019.
The non-feature jury was headed by well-known documentary filmmaker Rajendra Janglay. The jury has selected the film “Nooreh”, directed by Ashish Pandey, as the opening non-feature film of Indian Panorama 2019.
