Surjit Bhalla appointed as Executive Director (India) in IMF

Economist Surjit S. Bhalla has been appointed as the Executive Director (India) at the International Monetary Fund.
A notification from the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) said the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) had approved the appointment.
It said the appointmentwould be for a period of three years from the date of assumption of the charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Bhalla had been appointed as a part-time member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM) in September 2017 but resigned from the position in December 2018.
