Four-storeyed under-construction building collapses in Gurugram
About six labourers were feared trapped under the debris of an under-construction four-storeyed building that collapsed here early this morning, official sources said.
More than 150 personnel of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Fire Brigade and other agencies were involved in a massive rescue operation to find those believed trapped under the rubble, they said.
The building, located in Ullawas village in Sector 65 of Gurugram, near Delhi, collapsed around 5.15 am today, Sanjeev Singla, sub-divisional magistrate (SDM), told journalists.
He said some labourers who were sleeping in the building were trapped under the debris. He said exact numbers could not be immediately ascertained, but they could be around six or seven.
The police have traced the owner of the building and are questioning him.
"The building was unstable and was being constructed without proper technical expertise," Singla said, adding that the cause of the collapse would be established only after a proper inquiry.
