Delhi Metro to offer city check-in facilities for airline passengers at Shivaji Stadium station

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has said that airline passengers travelling to the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) on its Airport Express Line will have city check-in facilities at the Shivaji Stadium station from July 1.
At present, city-check-in is available for only Air India at the New Delhi station of the Airport Express Line for domestic sector and a few Gulf countries.
From July 1 onwards, passengers of Air India and Jet Airways will be able to do city check-in for domestic and international flights from both the New Delhi as well as Shivaji Stadium stations of the Airport Express Line. 
Flight passengers of Air India and Jet Airways can check in their baggage from these two Metro stations from 2 hours to 12 hours before the scheduled departure of the flight. 
The flight check-in facility from the stations would close two hours prior to the departure time, a press release from DMRC said.

The airport passengers can obtain their boarding pass at the city check-in counter and check-in the luggage as well.The checked-in baggage will be transferred to IGI Airport’s Terminal-3, through a secured Baggage Handling System (BHS). The highly sophisticated BHS ensures that baggage reaches airport in time. 
Free luggage trolleys are also available for passengers at the entry gates and platforms at all Metro stations of the Airport Express Line.
The release said this is one of the many measures that DMRC hastaken for the convenience of the passengers on the Airport Express Line. The frequency of the trains on this line has been enhanced to 10 minutes throughout the peak hours from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.  DMRC has also reduced passenger fares on the Airport Express Line by upto 50 percent for greater convenience of the commuters. A Visa Facilitation Service (VFS) was also introduced recently at the Shivaji Stadium Metro Station of the Airport Express Line. 
Increase in frequency of trains, improvement of timings, adjustment of the departure timings as per the arrival of Shatabadi Express trains are some of the measures that have already been taken earlier. The average daily ridership of Airport Express Line is around 36,000, the release added.
