The driver of an electric multiple unit (EMU) train died when it rammed into the stationary 12171 Lokmanya Tilak Express near Palwal in Haryana this morning.
The Lokmanya Tilak Express was on its way from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) in Mumbai to Haridwar when the mishap occurred between Palwal and Asaoti railway stations near here around 8.25 am.
The deceased EMU driver was identified as Yashpal.
Railway officials said the guard of the Lokmanya Express, B B Gupta, suffered injuries in the mishap, while there were no reports to passengers of both trains. The guard has been admitted to a trauma centre nearby for treatment.
Officials of the railways, the district administration and the police have rushed to the spot. An accident relief van and medical teams were also sent to the scene and rescue and relief efforts were underway, official sources said.

Meanwhile the trains enroute on the Palwal-Asaoti section, which were held up because of the accident, are being cleared through the up and fourth line at the site.
