5th Russia-India Trade and Investments Forum opens in Moscow

Moscow, November 10, 2011

The 5th Russia-India Trade and Investments Forum opened here today with the participation of multi-sectoral delegations from both the countries.

The forum is expected to provide an opportunity to interact with businessmen from Indian and Russian companies.
India's Commerce and Industry and Textile Minister Anand Sharma co-chaired the opening session with his Russian counterpart Deputy Prime Minister Segei Ivanov.
Within the framework of the forum, three focused roundtables on infrastructure, pharmaceuticals and innovation and commercialisation of research and technologies are scheduled to be  held.
The discussions at the forum are expected to give a boost to bilateral trade between India and Russia by providing a greater market access for the partners.
The bilateral trade turnover reached $ 8.5 billion in 2010, increasing three times since 2005, but falling short of the $ 10 billion target set by the two countries for 2010.
India and Russia now hope to increase the bilateral trade to $ 20 billion by 2015.
