The United States consulate here today granted a US visa to Neelima Mishra, Magsaysay Award winner for social work, after rejecting it earlier on grounds of her not being financially well-off.

Mishra was called to the consulate this morning to make a fresh application, which was accepted and she has been granted the US visa, sources close to her said, adding the visa would be given in the next two days.

She had applied online for a visa last week and was called for an interview on Friday. However, her application was rejected, the sources said.

Mishra has been invited by the Chicago-based India Development Coalition of America to deliver the keynote address at their upcoming convention, scheduled on October 15 and 16.
