12 buried alive as wall of house collapses in Chhattisgarh

Twelve people, including a woman, were buried alive today and as many injured when a huge portion of a wall of a bungalow - owned by Superintendent of Police O P Pal - caved in due to heavy rainfall, police said.

The incident occurred at around 1100 hrs when several people had taken shelter under a shed that was supported by the wall due to heavy rains. The injured were rushed to hospital.

The huge outer wall had been built in view of security for the SP's bungalow. An inquiry has been ordered into the incident. It was not clear whether Mr Pal was present in the house when the incident occurred.
