Rajkumar Singh to be new Home Secretary

Mr Rajkumar Singh, presently Secretary, Department of Defence Production, has been appointed as the new Home Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Mr Singh, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 1975 batch (Bihar cadre), will have a two-year tenure from the date he takes over charge of his new assignment. He will succeed Mr G K Pillai, who will retire on June 30.
An official press release said Mr Singh will serve as Officer on Special Duty in the Ministry of Home Affairs in the rank and pay of Secretary with immediate effect and till the date of his assumption of charge as Home Secretary.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has also approved the appointment of Mr Mohammed Haleem Khan, IAS (UP:77), presently Director General, Council for Advancement of People’s Action and Rural Technology (CAPART) under the Department of Rural Development, Ministry of Rural Development as Secretary, Department of Disinvestment, Ministry of Finance in the vacancy of Mr Sumit Bose, IAS (MP:76), the release added.
