Opposition leader in Kerala Assembly Oommen Chandy has sent a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh demanding ban on killer pesticide Endosulfan in the country.
Talking to newspersons here, the Congress leader said a copy of the letter was also sent to Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar.
He asked the Centre to adopt a stand in favour of global ban on Endosulfan at the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants.
If India did not take a concrete decision regarding the harmful pesticide, then the country would be sidelined in the international community, he added.
