Bardhaman-bound passenger train derails at Tikiapara

A major mishap was averted when a coach of the speeding Howrah-Bardhaman passenger train derailed today at Tikiapara yard near Howrah station, Eastern Railway sources said.

There had been no report of any injury or casualty to any passenger when two wheels from the third coach of the Bardhaman bound train derailed near Tikiapara, about 6 km from Howrah station.

The main line EMU left Howrah station from platform No 6 around 1230 hours and the coach derailed after some time.

Eastern Railways Divisional Manager Parthasarathi Mandal and other senior officials visited the spot to supervise the derailment process. The train was put on tracks two hours later.
