10 H1N1 deaths in India during past week: Govt.

Ten people died of influenza A (H1N1) in India during the week ended October 24, a statement from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare said here today, quoting information received from the States.
With this, the toll in the country since the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared the swine flu as a pandemic in mid-June last year has gone up to 2633.
The WHO had, on August 10, declared an end to the pandemic but called for continued vigilance, pointing out that pandemics, like the viruses that cause them, are unpredictable.
Of the 10 deaths, 4 occurred in Rajasthan, 3 in Haryana, 2 in Maharashtra and 1 in Gujarat.
The statement said 46 fresh cases of the flu were reported during the week from the country.
