Film writer-director B R Ishara passes away in Mumbai

Writer-director B R Ishara, who directed films like "Chetna" and "Ek Nazar", passed away this morning at a hospital here after a brief illness.

He was 77. He is survived by his actress wife Rehana Sultan.
 
Ishara directed more than 25 films and was best known for writing and directing films in the 1970s including "Hum Do Hamare Do", "Zaroorat" and "Milap".
 
He introduced actress Parveen Babi to Bollywood and worked with stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Reena Roy, Shatrughan Sinha, Raj Kiran and Raza Murad.
 
The cremation took place at the Pawan Hans crematarium in suburban Mumbai which was attended by his family and friends from the film industry.
