Minor quake jolts border region between Assam and Nagaland

New Delhi, February 10, 2012

An earthquake of slight intensity, measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale, was recorded in the border region between Assam and Nagaland tonight, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

The quake, which had its epicentre at latitude 26.6 degrees North and longitude 93.7 degrees East, occurred at 2115  hours at a depth of 10 km, an IMD bulletin added.
