IIT Roorkee student Sonesh Jain wins competition to design BRICS Summit logo

Sonesh Jain, a student of architecture at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee has won a competition to design a logo for the next summit of the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) grouping that will be held in New Delhi.

This will be the first time that India will be hosting a summit of the group and the Ministry of External Affairs had organised an open competition for a logo that would best reflect the spirit of this newly-emergent group of countries.
 
A specially-appointed jury recently selected the entry created by Sonesh Jain, which, it felt, cleverly blended a symbolic representation of a peacock, with colours suggesting renewal and resurgence.

"The jury found this most representative of the theme and concept of the forthcoming Summit," the release said, adding that Jain would soon receive the award for his entry.
