Traffic at Indian ports likely to touch 2485 MT by 2019-20: Vasan

Traffic at Indian ports is expected to grow at a compounded annual growth rate of more than 11 per cent to 2485 million tonnes by 2019-20 from the present level of 850 million tonnes, Union Shipping Minister G K Vasan said here today.
 
Inaugurating "Invest Port", a conclave on investment opportunities in the ports sector in India here, Vasan said traffic at the 12 major ports was likely to go up from 561 million tonnes in 2009-10 to 1215 million tonnes by 2019-20.
 
He said traffic at the 176 non-major ports was expected to grow from the present level of 289 million tonnes to 1270 million tonnes in this period.
