The International Advisory Panel (IAP) on the National Rural Health Mission, headed by well-known American economist Jeffery Sachs, today attributed India’s improved health indicators to the work accomplished under components of the programme.

At a meeting with Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and senior officials here, Sachs, Director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University, and his team of experts commended India for the incredible progress but emphasized the need for quarterly/ real time data for better programme management as also the need for model district approach.
