CBI files charge sheet against 7 persons, 5 firms in Emaar land scam

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today filed a charge sheet against seven persons, including Andhra Pradesh Principal Secretary (Home) and senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer B P Acharya, and five companies in the case of alleged irregularities in an upscale township project in Hyderabad.
The charge sheet was filed before the Special Judge for CBI Cases, Hyderabad, under various sections of the India Penal Code relating to criminal conspiracy, cheating and criminal breach of trust as well as sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Besides Acharya, others named in the charge sheet are Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) executive officer L V Subramanyam, who was the then Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC), then Secretary (Industries) K V Rao, since retired, and four private individuals, Koneru Rajendra Prasad, Srikant Joshi, Madhu Koneru and T Ranga Rao.
