India, Sri Lanka hold inaugural defence dialogue

India and Sri Lanka discussed the regional security situation, including issues of maritime security in the Indian Ocean, at their inaugural Annual Defence Dialogue held here yesterday.
 
The meeting was co-chaired by Defence Secretary Shashikant Sharma and his Sri Lankan counterpart Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. 
 
The two delegations comprised officers of the Defence Ministries and the Armed Forces of the two countries.
 
Sharma and Rajapaksa also called on Defence Minsiter A K Antony in South Block. Various issues relating to bilateral defence interactions came up for discussion at the meeting, an official press release added.
