India's exports grow by 6.71% in December 2011

India's exports grew by 6.71 per cent to $ 25.016 billion in December 2011 from $ 23.442 billion in the same month of the previous year, an official statement said here today.
The country's export growth had slowed down to 3.87 per cent in November 2011.
In rupee terms, exports during December 2011 were valued at Rs 131775.95 crore, which was 24.48 per cent higher than the level of Rs. 105856.90 in the same month of 2010.
The cumulative value of exports for the period April-December 2011-12 was $ 217.664 billion (Rs 1024706.95 crore) as against $ 172.965 billion (Rs.789068.93 crore), registering a growth of 25.84 per cent in dollar terms and 29.86 per cent in rupee terms over the same period last year.
India’s Imports during December 2011 were valued at $ 37.753 billion (Rs.198873.00 crore), representing a growth of 19.81 per cent in dollar terms (39.76 per cent in rupee terms) over the level of $ 31.511 billion ( Rs. 142293.94 crore) in December 2010.
The cumulative value of imports for the period April-December 2011-12 was $ 350.936 billion (Rs.1651239.75 crore) as against $ 269.175 billion (Rs. 1228074.48 crore), registering a growth of 30.37 per cent in dollar terms and 34.46 per cent in rupee terms over the same period last year.

Oil imports during December 2011 were valued at $ 10.279 billion which was 11.20 per cent higher than oil imports valued at $ 9.244 billion in the corresponding period last year. Oil imports during April-December 2011-12 were valued at $ 105.589 billion which was 40.39 per cent higher than the oil imports of $ 75.211 billion in the corresponding period last year.
Non-oil imports during December 2011 were estimated at $ 27.474 billion which was 23.38 per cent higher than non-oil imports of $ 22.267 billion in December 2010. Non-oil imports during April-December 2011-12 were valued at $ 245.347 billion which was 26.49 per cent higher than the level of such imports valued at $ 193.964 billion in April-December 2010-11.
The trade deficit for April-December 2011-12 was estimated at $ 133.272 billion which was higher than the deficit of $ 96.210 billion during April-December, 2010-11, the statement added.
