The Election Commission today once again directed the authorities in Manipur, including the law and order machinery, to maintain maximum alertness and take the most stringent measures to ensure peaceful polling in Assembly elections tomorrow.
An official press release said that the authorities were told to make sure that election process was not vitiated in any way.
The Commission said it had noticed some violent and extremist activities taking place in certain areas of the state in the run-up to the polls. These have included attacks on personnel on polling duty.
