PM condoles the passing away of Farook

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today condoled the passing away of Kerala Governor M O H Farook, saying that he woud be remembered for his administrative abilities and the strong bond that he had with the people whom he represented.

In a message to the late Governor's son Farook Shahjahan, Singh described Farook as one of the seniormost politicians of the country who had served in public life for five decades in different capacities.
 
"He served thrice as the Chief Minister of Puducherry and was also a Member of the Union Council of Ministers in the early nineties. He served as Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and made important contributions to developing India's relations with Saudi Arabia," he said.
 
Singh said Farook upheld the highest traditions of public service during his long and distinguished career, adding that the country had lost a veteran politician and a leader of the people.
