Rajasthan government to constitute Jaisalmer Fort Development Authority

The Rajasthan government has agreed to set up a Jaisalmer Fort Development Authority to resolve the vexed and inter-connected problems relating to constructions and encroachments within the complex.

This was decided at a meeting held by Union Minister for Culture Kumari Selja with Rajasthan Minister for Culture Bina Kak in Jaipur on January 21 to discuss the concerted efforts required to be made by the state government to address the problems of one of the most celebrated forts of medieval times.
 
Union Culture Secretary Jawhar Sircar and RajasthanChief Secretary Salauddin Ahmed also attended the meeting, along with senior representatives of the Ministry, the Archaeological Survey of India, and the Government of Rajasthan. The Chairman of the Nagar Palika of Jaisalmer was also present.
